We may hear the term mental health a lot in movies, tv shows, and on social media. It’s a topic that has been hidden and not discussed as much in the past but in recent years has had much light shined on it. Some may say mental health is solely just about mental illness or therapy, and even though those are aspects of mental health, what is mental health really?

Mental health involves your psychological, emotional, and social well-being. Mental health overalls deal with how we act, feel, and think. Things we do every day involve mental health in some way, like the decisions we make or how we react to certain situations.

There are many topics in mental health ranging from stress management to substance use disorders. Lazar Spinal Care helps people with the following mental health disorders:

Some of the more common mental health disorders include anxiety disorders, depression, and Bipolar. These disorders can affect one's mood and how they react to certain scenarios.

There are many different types of anxiety disorders including Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, and many others. Symptoms of Anxiety include stress, excessive worrying, fatigue, muscle tension, and sleep problems. Depression is a mental health disorder that can affect your overall mood and daily functioning. Bipolar Disorder is a mental health condition that involves severe mood swings. These mood swings include highs like mania and lows like depression. Like Anxiety and Depression, there are a couple of different types of Bipolar and the various types can involve different symptoms. Bipolar I Disorder involves at least one manic episode and can last for a week, Bipolar II Disorder involves several manic episodes but is less severe.

Despite the severity of Bipolar Disorder, it is a treatable condition. Care for Bipolar can include medication like mood stabilizers and antipsychotics and therapy including family therapy and psychotherapy.
