Weight on each foot was balanced out completely since who knows when. It seems this NUCCA stuff really works. My hips were aligned and I have a great sense of gravity presently. No adjustments were needed to be made a few days so I am holding very well. I’m a little sore from participating in physical activity Monday night, but it’s getting better each day…
The Way I See It Day #30
January 28th, 2010Speechless and Amazed
January 24th, 2010Health care is such a weird nut to crack. I don’t mean what you hear about in the news. Rather, I am referring to true, principled, objective, find-it-and-fix-it health care where the root cause of the problem is discovered and corrected, not simply covering up or masking symptoms to keep a patient quiet.
It is tough to crack because just when we think we understand something, new evidence emerges and changes the way we look at things. Specifically, I rediscovered yesterday what happens when someone has remnant pressure on their brainstem. Pain increases, hip levels are grossly imbalanced, a smooth gate is difficult to impossible to experience, and the utilization of narcotics and other pain medications skyrockets. Further, blood glucose levels get dangerously high, and malignant hypertension requires multiple prescription interventions.
I made a trip to Monroe, MI to the office of Dr. Keith Denton for my regular study and fellowship training session. We reviewed the x-rays from a patient I have been taking care of for the past 2 years and came up with a game plan together. A simple re-xray and new analysis revealed the change in the vector that needed to be made.
The new correction balanced the patient’s hips out (frontal plane), which was a 4 degree change. Weight balanced, and on post-xrays, the 3 degree lateral movement of C1 had been totally corrected. Immediately, the patient could rise from seated position with ease, and could walk with a much smoother gait. The slight rigidity that existed in her movement after one adjustment was reported to be due to right knee pain after a minor knee injury the day before.
Following up the next morning with patient revealed blood glucose levels were within normal limits without diabetic medication administration, and prescription pain medication was not necessary.
The patient was advised to rest the spine for three days. She will be monitored twice weekly, but will only be re-adjusted (if indicated) after two weeks, in order to give the neurology and spinal soft tissues a chance to relax.
How can something be so simple and yet so life-alteringly powerful? My accountant made a statement to me recently when we were discussing some of the miraculous events I have seen in my office. His insight: “If what you are saying is true, it’s only a matter of time until people are lined up around this building.” Very true, Don. I speak only truth, so it is, in fact, only a matter of time until people are lined up around the building at 203 S. Zeeb Rd. in Ann Arbor. Maybe then, you, too, will be speechless and amazed.
The Way I See It Day #21
January 19th, 2010Got adjusted Tuesday the 12th before I left for my trip to California. It’s been a week since and I’ve noticed my shoulders are looking more even with one another. Although, I’ve developed a cough that I only experience when I lay down or exert a lot of energy. Looking forward to my next weekly adjustment!!!
The Way I See It Day #5
January 3rd, 2010I’m starting to feel more balance in my stature during my daily activies. I definitely feel some sort of change physically, but not mentally. Looking forward to how this helps…
The Way I See It Day #1
December 31st, 2009Got adjusted today. Felt a little light headed, but it disappeared soon after. Tried to feel if anything was different physically or mentally throughout the rest of the day only to realize nothing has changed….

Merry Christmas from Dr. Lazar
December 23rd, 2009I have seen a tremendous amount of neurological interferrence recently, temporalmandibular dysfunction (TBD, jaw problems) has been extremely prevalent, and people are emotionally and physiologically down.
I talked to a dentist friend of mine and he agreed with the amount of TBD he has seen recently, and says every year around Christmas, he sees an increase in jaw cases due to people grinding their teeth.
People are worried about their jobs, the economy, disease care reform in Washington, and in the midst of all the turmoil, they’re adding fuel to the fire by trying to ‘keep up’ with their normal Christmases.
One of my birthdays was a big event. A lot of planning and stress went into it, and it was not even that great of a birthday party. The event itself was fantastic, but the experience wasn’t that special. Then, on another birthday, it was a very simple, low-key trip to a local restaurant and family was there. It was nothing overly special, but it was one of my favorite birthdays ever. Part of what made it great was the fact that nobody stressed themselves out on my behalf.
As we celebrate Jesus’ birth, keep this in mind. He doesn’t want us to be stressed out, either. It’s not about the gifts or Santa or shopping or returns or debt or stress. It’s about things that matter: faith, hope, and love. It’s about being with people we love and taking a minute to rest.
Please do this over the next two days. Finish 2009 out the right way. Scale back. Give back. Keep smiling. And whether you accept His love or not, Jesus loves you just the way you are.
Thank you for being a part of my life. I am truly grateful for you.
As always, many, many blessings,
Dr. Jonathan Lazar
We Have A Lot To Be Thankful For
November 26th, 2009Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on the things for which we’re grateful. As a society, we are typically striving, longing for, and pursuing things we don’t have. But if we just take a moment and reflect on how much we have been given, a change of heart is inevitable.
Research shows that being grateful actually changes the neurochemicals that run through our blood stream. Being in a state of gratitude literally allows us to function better, focus better, and we’re most likely more fun to be around.
I thank God every day I get to take care of families. Just this week in my office, Bruce told me his hearing is improving, Ben said his response to food allergies was significantly less. Also, Bonnie said her debilitating back pain had finally resolved without the use of drugs. Char told me her leg burning had gone away, and she is walking straighter. Nancy said her headaches have improved by 60%, Gabby is sleeping through the night again, and Mrs. G’s mood has greatly improved. Suzie is doing better, even though her work situation is very stressful and Pierce is communicating better than he was in the past. Daniel told me this is the best care he’s ever had, and that more people need to know about NUCCA. This is about half of what I heard in just three days of taking care of people this week.
I’m grateful I get to do what God created me to do: to help families achieve the highest health potential possible.
I’m thankful Jesus loves me.
I’m so happy I have a beautiful wife and 3 amazing children. All 4 of our parents are still alive and well. We have a Grandma we get to spend time with. Our siblings are all doing fantastic. Our Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, and Friends are doing great.
I’m giddy at the thought of having the team I have at Lazar Spinal Care. They look out for me and treat our practice members like the 5-star VIPs you are.
Thank you to all of you who let me serve you and your family. If you’re not under care right now, come in. You’re missing out on the life you could be living. If you are under care right now, bring your family and friends. They deserve the same great opportunity you have!
So what are you thankful for? Leave a reply below and we’ll give you 10% off your next adjustment.
Happy Thanksgiving!
With love and gratitude,
Dr. Lazar
Multiple Sclerosis: Can Upper Cervical Help?
September 29th, 2009Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a progressive degenerative neurological disorder where the ‘insulation’ around the nerves (called myelin) breaks down. Without this insulation, neurological signals aren’t able to travel as quickly as they once were, and neurological symptoms set in. These symptoms involve numbness and tingling, unsteadiness, loss of strength, and vision changes, to name a few.
Conventional medicine offers drug therapy, and recommends stress management, physical therapy, and supervised exercise for those who suffer with MS. One article states, “Only 3% of those taking [a certain drug]…stopped taking it because of side effects.” However, known side effects of this specific drug are fever, chills, muscle aches, tiredness, depression, abdominal pain, increased liver enzymes, and blood cell count decreases. Other people in clinical trials for this drug mentioned feeling sad, tired, hot or cold, they experienced hives, rashes, bruising, yellowing of the skin, and a change in body weight (some gained, some lost). The study went on to mention there were things health care providers could do to lessen these symptoms. Their suggestion: prescribe other medications to treat the effects of this specific drug.
Keep in mind, these lesions involving myelin sheaths are in the brain. While the mechanism of actions of MS drugs in the interferon family are, “still being investigated,” we do know that natural interferons (not the synthetics ones used in drug therapy) are used in the body to respond to certain types of infections, typically viral infections. The point here is that interferons are involved in our immunity. So, at the very least, these MS drugs alter our body’s immune system. Further, since MS affects cells in the brain, it would be prudent for researchers to find out the effects these drugs have on the brain itself.
The great news is, there is research supporting the efficacy of specific Upper Cervical Chiropractic care for patients with MS. One article discussed a 46-year-old female whose symptoms had completely disappeared after just four months of Upper Cervical care. Further, MRIs of her brain as late as two years after the initial care began actually showed a decrease in intensity of the original lesions. The side effects of Upper Cervical care involve better, more restful sleep, better mood, more regulated heart rate and internal body functions, decrease in pain, plus more.
Another study concluded, “A causal link between trauma-induced upper cervical injury and disease onset for…MS…appears to exist. Correcting the injury to the upper cervical spine…may arrest and reverse the progression of…MS.”
While there is no way to know whether or not your specific situation will respond this well to care, it is a great first step. The worst case scenario is simply that your body will be functioning better, and you’ll still have to find another intervention for your MS. However, the odds are in your favor when you are free from neurological interference, and removing neurological interference is the only thing we do at Lazar Spinal Care.
To speak with me about your specific situation, please email my office at care@lazarspinalcare.com, or call us at (734) 274-5107. I will be happy to speak with you.
It’s Only Money
September 23rd, 2009According to the U.S. Census Bureau, consumer credit card debt will reach nearly $1.2 trillion ($1,177,000,000,000) next year. That doesn’t include car debt, student loans, or debt secured by real estate.
Think about this: one trillion dollar bills would stretch from the earth to the sun. It would take a military jet flying at the speed of sound, reeling out a roll of dollar bills behind it, 14 years before it reeled out one trillion dollar bills.
One trillion dollars could pay for all the goods and services produced in Australia in one year. It could pay the rent for every renter in the U.S. for 3 years. It could pay for an additional 11 weeks of vacation for every American worker. Get the picture?
While we may not be able to properly conceptualize $1 trillion, it is a vitally important number, because it represents a form of slavery. People in debt of ANY KIND are slaves to the lender. There are no ifs, ands, or buts about it. Financial trouble leads to health problems and suicide, and is the number one cause of divorce.
The purpose of Lazar Spinal Care, P.C. is to facilitate healing in every way, and one of those ways is financial healing. We are officially endorsing Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University. This 13 week course will change your life. My wife, Kari and I have taken this class and are now leaders in it at Northridge Church in Plymouth. While the concepts by themselves may not change your life, implementing them the way Dave teaches through each baby step will.
We are so excited and encouraged about endorsing this, that anyone who registers for a class and brings confirmation into the office will receive a free adjustment. Please keep in mind, if you are not currently under care in our office, you will need an examination and x-ray series before getting adjusted. This is our way encouraging you to pursue financial peace and healing.
Be encouraged, live on purpose, and be full of passion today!
I Get It!
July 19th, 2009This past year has been a big year for me. I’m sure it has for everyone. Life is ever-changing. A little less than a year ago, I was in a business relationship that went bad for everyone involved. It caused everyone involved a lot of pain. Neither one of us entered the relationship with ill motives. I have to believe we both embarked on this adventure in order to further a cause that is bigger than the collectives parties involved. At least I know I signed on for those reasons. During several breakdowns of communication, the changing of hands for decision makers, and corporate restructuring, I found myself in the middle of a situation that required as its only hope to salvage something good a complete break in the relationship. We’ve all been there at some point. That point of no return where if you continue where you’re headed, it will cause more long-term pain and dysfunction, and if you leave, it will cause a great deal of immediate pain. So, we do what we have to do, and we do that the best way we know how.
A very close friend of mine (you know who you are) knew fairly well what was going on with both parties. During the most trecherous part of the storm, he said something that initially cut me to a place that was deeper than I was comfortable being cut. He said, “You know, Jonathan, it takes two for a relationship to not work.” Ouch! The conversation ended very shortly after that.
Here were my biggest challenges with this situation. First, from what I could perceive, the position from which people on the other side of this situation were operating was one of false information about me. In reality, I have no way of knowing whether they were or not, but that’s what my gut was telling me. The reason this aspect of it was so painful was because I would have (and never have) intentionally or maliciously hurt that organization, and the feedback I was getting was how damaging the relationship was for them. So now we have two parties who are both in turmoil and who believe the other party is responsible. While I should not be concerned with other peoples’ perception of me, I still had trouble with this. I wanted (and thought I needed) someone to hear my side of the story.
Further, there are two entities who are disillusioned with the other, and both could have had a mutually symbiotic relationshp. So no matter what the reasons, excuses, rationalizations, and stories are, there is a relationship damaged that may be beyond repair. That is very uncomfortable to fathom.
Have you ever been in the middle of a movie in which you were completely immersed? You were warned before hand that these people were actors, because their names were announced in the credits at the beginning of the movie. You also knew with certainty it was a movie, because you had to drive to a movie theater to experience this. You purchased a ticket, bought your popcorn with extra butter, walked down the hall, opened another door, found the perfect seat, and took a load off. So you really had no excuse to get sucked into the story. You were fully aware it was not real. Why, then, did you start crying when the lead character died? Or why did you jump when the antagonist in the movie showed his face in that dark garage? The answer is simple: against your better judgment, you let yourself believe the story. The same is true in situations in our real lives.
Children of divorced parents will often take a fact (mom and dad got divorced) and then start telling themselves a story about it (it must have been because of something I did, or, they must not love our family anymore). In nearly every divorce situation, these statements are completely false. The child could hear directly from the parents a different story (”Honey, that’s not the case at all.”), but that story carries some serious weight. And until this child learns to stop that story from playing in his or her mind, it will be clinched as more powerful that the known facts.
In my personal situation, I’ve been telling myself, That person was out to get me, or, I knew I should have never trusted that guy! But what if I stopped with the stories? What if I stopped replaying it over and over in my mind? What if I could get to the place where I turned the lights on in the movie theater, stopped the movie, and said to myself, This is just a movie. Stop being so drawn into it? Just what if? Is it possible that we were all just trying to protect ourselves? Is it possible this went bad because of things outside of our control? What if it was bad idea from the beginning?
My intention is to continue healing, stop telling myself the stories, and stop the resentment. For the past several months, I have been, in essence, drinking poison and expecting the other party to die. I have been unsuccessful at my attempts, and have been very successful at alienating myself.
So here’s the great news: even if other parties involved had inappropriate intentions (which is probably not the case), I’ll never know. But regardless, I do not have to be bound by it. If I can stay in the place where I choose to no longer let the pain stick around, then nothing they might think, say, or do has to affect me. And that’s a great place to be!
I strongly encourage you to consider situations in your own life that you may be reharsing stories about and put a stop to it. Just because I looked at my watch doesn’t necessarily mean I’m running late. And just because that situation you’re thinking of didn’t work out the way you thought it should have, doesn’t mean anything other than it worked out differently. So let go of it, turn on the lights in your movie, and move on.
